One in five women of childbearing age has levels of mercury in her body high enough to damage an unborn child!
A recent study by the University of North Carolina discovered the common factor among the women with high blood levels of mercury was that they ate poisoned fish. Mercury can damage the brain, kidney, and developing fetuses.
Coal power plants release mercury into the air. That mercury ends up in bodies of water, where it becomes a highly toxic substance. Fish ingest the mercury. If you eat the contaminated fish, you are directly consuming a toxic form of mercury.
